The Agama gallery presents, from October 7 to November 19, the exhibition “Heritage and tradition”, in Toulouse. Dedicated to the Yoruba civilization, it will bring together a large selection of art objects from West Africa, from the archaeological origins of Nok art to the current masks of the G\u00e8l\u00e8d\u00e9 society.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The public will be able to appreciate the aesthetic heritage of Nigerian Nok statuary (- 1,000 BC \/ + 1,000 AD) which continues in the past and current ritual traditions of the Yorubas. T he Ib\u00e9ji statuettes, celebrating the cult of twins, and the dance masks of the G\u00e8l\u00e9d\u00e9 society, from Benin and Nigeria, will be particularly honoured.<\/p>\n

This exhibition is also an opportunity for Gu\u00e9na\u00ebl Fassier to discover the spaces of the gallery transformed during the summer. After 11 years of presence in the Carmes district in Toulouse, as an event, the gallery will now be open all year round, from Wednesday to Saturday and by appointment. Alain and Gu\u00e9na\u00ebl Fassier will offer exhibitions of primitive art and contemporary art.<\/p>\n
